8.8 Story about a Contortionist Chapter 3-5
Chapter 3-5 Contortion Story from mohamedkhairy@hotmail.com
3
As I reached the door of my room smoke was coming out from under the door.
Instantly I slammed up the door thinking that it was on fire, but as usual
Thomas was up to something. He sat cross-legged on a spike-mat and had
incense all over the place.
Myself: WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?
I asked with my most calm tone trying to keep my hands of splitting him into
two.
Of course, I got no respond or answer and all he was doing was 'yuming' with
his eyes shut. It wasn't worth spoiling the emotion I had gained from
Rosette, so nice and quietly I went down for a drink.
I had stopped the alcoholic phase since the accident and stuck mostly to the
fresh juices. It was hard at the beginning since the taste seemed different,
but afterwards I used to buy the fruits by myself to make sure I drank fresh
juices.
Unfortunately, I didn't get the opportunity to drink in peace and quite and
saw my first irritating situation on the boat. My Bokuto (wooden sword)
asked for action and in that certain situation I definitely refused to let
it down.
Another physically handicapped companion on the boat was being seized by
four macho morons for not paying a poker-bet.
I put the Bokuto behind my back and headed normally as if I was just passing
by the stupid crowd in the saloon and asked one of the morons if he had a
light.
"Where's your cigar, babe?"
He answered giving the back to my companion.
Myself: In front of me!
I began to pull the other three's attention.
Myself: If you don't get your dirty hands off my friend I'll turn you to
ashes.
Then I pulled up my Bokuto. The other three noticed my existence and
switched over to me as my companion deserted the location as quick his
wheels could roll. Surrounded by all directions I went for a straight blow
to my front enemy's solar plexus and went with a back hit to my back-enemy's
lower shin with my weapon. As expected both sides left were going to go for
a straight attack at the same time, so an easy bend made the trick and POP I
heard two heads knock into each other and then collapse to the ground. The
entire crowd went off with whistles and applause and an effusive face
appeared.
Jason: A truly excellent way of handling such a hard situation, miss.
Then he snapped his fingers and guards came and took the knocked out morons.
Jason: Such a skill, such an excellence, such a…
I had to do something.
Myself: Buzz off!
Then I went for another hunt to find a quieter place. The tension in my neck
and shoulders had returned and I damned the four men that made my emotion of
ease disappear. DreamCruise Café was my next step and finally I got a quite
good time of harmony. Just then Tom came walking in with a black suit and a
cigar in his mouth.
Thomas: Hey, Chiquita! Why sitting alone in such a huge ship?
Myself: I like being alone and besides, where did you get that suit?
Thomas: I was just coming to that point. You left you credit card in the
room and chicks are all over the place so I gotta look neat, you know.
Just then the entire ship quaked as if it had crashed into something. The
panic took over the ship and all the passengers began running like chickens
terrified from the butcher's knife. It was if they all knew what had
occurred.
For at least an entire hour nothing was happening. The lights had gone dead,
the soft music had stopped and all were just praying their last prayers.
Just when they were one single step from hell all the people remembered God,
even though they had their entire lifetime to gain good deeds. But as they
say 'Cowards die often' and there was sure plenty of them that moment.
4
Finally the captain sent a message to the entire ship. A meteor had hit the
ship and made (what he called) a slight opening so that water was getting
into the ship and causing it to sink.
The captain: The ship is sinking and we do not seem to be able of getting
any help, so please begin heading slowly to the ship and…
He stopped for a moment sounding as if he was beginning to get a bag of
tears in his throat.
The captain: And may God be with us.
For me it was pretty tough but, even though Thomas carried me and began
heading to the deck I insisted to be the last one saved. Another individual
was on a wheelchair too and there could have been more that needed help and
wasn't capable of finding any since no one wanted to help anyone except
themselves. Luckily, the one that was worrying me made it up to deck since
he already was there on his wheelchair.
Thomas went back and checked if there still were any passengers on board but
no one was left. All were ready to leave on the lifeboats and left
everything behind. As we rowed away we could see the gigantic DreamCruise
sink like a stone not knowing where to go or what to do. Just as we were on
the most luxurious boat in the world the next moment we all were in the
hands of God in the middle of no where with no water, no food and no sight
of land in miles.
Days passed by and there was still no sign of land. All on the boats had
passed out (that is if they weren't already dead.) and all our strength was
gone, except one who went on as if nothing was going on. Thomas was as
strong and full of energy and for every five minutes he swam to each boat to
see that their pulse was still beating and then returning back to me. But, I
hadn't took my medication for days and just in a blink of an eye I passed
into another world. I was conscious of what was happening but at the same
time too weak to even move talk and even breath. It was the worst time of my
life, until one day I woke up by water getting into my mouth.
We had finally reached an island and yet (as Thomas informed me) there was
no sign of human life. Everyone had survived and were okay, but there was no
chance that we were going to be able of getting in touch with any kind of
source unless we were found by someone.
Myself: What about the other guy on the wheelchair?
I asked. Who turned out to be named Luke Hue. Luckily, he didn't take any
sort of medication and his injury wasn't as serious as we thought. In fact,
it was all an act and he was as healthy as a horse but used the wheelchair
as a way to get away from the tough guys, even though it seemed to be kind
of ineffective to me. I asked about my wheelchair and of course it had sank
with the ship, but Luke's selfishness came to handy and he didn't forget his
wheelchair, so I used it instead. But, that wasn't the only thing hidden.
Thomas who I spend half my money on make-up for him turned out to not be a
demon, but a creature from another dimension who had the ability to
materialise himself by the help of his inhuman powers and to turn into any
shape with any features what-so-ever. He came from a tribe where his species
was called The Punchers and he had escaped since the war had become too much
in his dimension.
He had fixed my medication and also prepared tents. But too much magic
wasn't required and for me it seemed (even though we were in a purely
deserted island with no kind of help nor a coming plan) a great opportunity
to make everyone see how it is to not have everything as soon they asked for
it. This was going to be fun.
5
I had it pretty hard accepting that the news were going to get spread
quicker than expected and that the first one that was going to find out and
collapse was my beloved Mario. It hadn't lasted a week since the engagement
and now this? Well, I had to hope that we were going to get out off the
island sooner than anyone was going to find out about the sunken
DreamCruise… or before Mario commit suicide. It wasn't a nice sight seeing
Mario cry for the first time when the doctors informed us about the result
of my stubbornness but it had its good sides, since that was how Mario
proposed to me.
I fell in love with him as soon I realised that he was treating me as if I
still had the ability to walk, since my parents didn't. Mom of course,
explained with all means that it was going to be impossible for me to ever
again get into a relationship with a man and dad never talked about my
injury so much. But you bet they got stunned as soon they heard the news
about Mario and me. Dad congratulated with all his heart and mom got
difficulty talking so a little smile was all I got, but at least the time
proved that mom was 150% incorrect.
As time passed by everyone began to starve and now there was neither room
service nor a dozen of restaurants to go to. There was only the nature
itself.
Thomas: I'm hungry!
He said as he sucked a piece of wood trying to get anything out of it.
I told him to use his magic but food was the only thing that he wasn't able
of doing with the help of magic.
Myself: Now what?
I asked worried of the others, since there was a great sum of children.
Thomas: I can get some fruits, but I'll need help moving enough fruits
into the camp.
Monica offered to help which made it 75% fixed and I had to of course follow
along to make sure that Thomas kept his human features. He had transformed
himself to a well-built, good-looking man with dark-brown hair and black
eyes. The girls had it definitely hard keeping away from him as I had it
hard keeping my fists away from his face every time he turned around to the
girls to get away from the job.
As we finished loading the fruits on the bags that had been saved we
returned back to the camp and even though I did not help them with the
loading, just pushing my wheels through the sand was enough consuming all my
power.
Thomas: Having a hard time moving?
He asked as he gave me the coconut that he had just put holes to with his
powerful fingers.
Myself: I could need the exercise.
I replied trying to hide the pain in my arms that was killing me.
Myself: Have you made sure that everyone has enough fruits?
Thomas: No problems.
Just then Monica stepped into the camp. She communicated by sign language
and I wasn't precisely an expert.
Thomas: She asks if she could be to any help.
I didn't ask how he managed to understand her but, it was obvious that the
Punchers were very intelligent.
Myself: Thank you.
I said slowly to give her a chance to read my lips. But she didn't leave she
still communicated and gradually I began to feel as if I had seen her
somewhere. I wasn't sure where or when, but I was sure that I knew her well
even though I wasn't able communicating with her. As she stopped Thomas
translated.
Thomas: She asks if you would want a massage. She also says that she can
feel that the heat is exhausting you.
I smiled and thanked her although I was in need of one real badly. As she
left I began with my coconut.
Thomas: Why did you say no? You seem to be in a need of one real bad.
Myself: Is it that obvious?
I said with a little bit of shyness inside of me.
Later as the heat of the sun began to get cooler I got out. Actually, it
wasn't so bad and for all the passengers it seemed just like another
vacation with a little bit of excitement. Teenaged girls got together and
most of them shared the same activity. Some were gymnasts, cheerleader, and
dancers. The spent their time on showing their skills and to each other and
proving how flexible and talented they are. They made me go back and
remember how I used to do with my friends back in Madrid when I just was a
little girl. I remember as soon my friends and I succeeded of doing the
splits we challenged each other on who were able of doing the biggest
oversplits. First we used put a huge dictionary under our front-leg that was
stretched out on the floor and than we gradually increased the angle until
we were able of putting the front-leg straight parallel to the wall so that
the legs formed an L.
And when we succeeded to it with both legs (one at a time) we increased the
angle of the back-leg to try and form a V. It sure needed a lot of practice,
but in that age that was the only way we succeeded to keep it up.
Rose: Welcome out in the fresh air. I heard that you have been having it
pretty tough with the heat.
She had lightened her clothing due to the heat and was now just wearing a
T-shirt and a pair of shorts.
Myself: I can see I'm not the only one.
Rose: Well, it is hot, you know.
Not expecting any changes suddenly I heard music.
Myself: What's that?
I asked thinking that there probably was another life on the island, which
made me think directly of cannibals.
Rose: Tom has been doing instruments with the help by the nature and now
he's keeping the band busy. Gradually, I myself began to forget that we were
in a deserted island with no aid what so ever and Thomas was of course the
main source that succeeded to achieve the idea. After all, my father turned
out to be right, he always said "The only thing that can only fit in, in a
situation what so ever is joy, so don't drive it away. Because after all joy
is the only way out of you problems".
From a life or death situation into a totally new kind of vacation. Now all
were dressed as Hawaiians and were playing limbo while the bartenders… or
should I say those who used to be the bartenders now had built a tiny bar
and made all kind of juices and cocktails by the help of the island's
fruits. It was all like a fiction story coming to life in one night. The
chefs prepared food and even the masseuses and masseurs didn't stop,
everything was just normal. Amazingly, Thomas also communicated with the
chimps and made them also come to handy. But as nature was on our side it
wasn't always, as it should have.
At late nights we used to get hit by a violent storm that forced us to run
into the tents and make sure that the tents also didn't fly away with
everything else on the island. And as the early dawn arrived and the storm
had lied down everyone got out to see the result. Everything built and
decorated was totally ruined. Nothing was left but absolute destruction
caused by the savage storm. But as the leader of the ship the captain always
had the high spirits (just like my old man) and began to restructure
everything all over again even more solid until finally once it was as
stable and strong as a structure could be. And as the storm attacked we
succeeded to keep everything in its place.
"Way to go, Captain!!" one of the boys said a early dawn as everyone had
got out and seen the wonder. The boy was with a gang just like himself with
a ridiculous hairstyle, torn jeans and skulls on their T-shirts. And
although I saw everyone on the island every single day I never managed to
get everyone's names.
Captain: That's what captains are made for, son.
He had full-grown beard, seemed to be in his late 40s and was rather skinny,
but had a brain that weighed more than a blue whale. He was wise and
good-natured. Not much of a muscle man but with all that smartness he never
needed any.
Captain: I didn't become a captain just like that.
He said with that cosy smile and snapped his fingers.
Captain: If it wasn't because of that damn meteor that boat would have
lived at least 100 years more.
For me it sounded as if he was talking about one of those old sailing boats
and not the worldwide DreamCruise that everyone on the planet Earth just
dreamt of seeing just from distance.
It was something strange about him… I don't know. First Monica and now I
got the same feeling when I met the captain. Was it I or was it the heat? Or
maybe… it was something about the island. However, now, time was going to
prove everything and I sure had plenty of that.
